Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on August 9th, 1963, in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel superstar Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and cousin of singing star Dionne Warwick. Whitney's mother and her started singing professionally at the New Hope Baptist Church of Newark when Whitney was only 15 years old. The two sang backing vocals in Chaka Khan's track from 1978 Im Every Woman. Later, she provided backing vocals to Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson as well as her mom. She started as a featured performer for the New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her vocal quality work earned her the attention of major record label Arista which she joined in 1983. Her debut album Whitney Houston was released in 1985, and was the most-seller album by the debut artist. The album released several hit singles including Saving All My Love for You How Will You Know That You Give Good Love and The Greatest Love of All. This led to her achieving seven US number one hits consecutively. She beat even the Beatles. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies before it increased to 25 million worldwide. This brought her first of her six Grammy Awards. Whitney, her album Whitney was released in 1987, and featuring the smash tracks Where Do Broken Hearts go? and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, built upon her previous success. It is The Bodyguard (1996) that made her the top selling album in music. While the movie itself and the performances in it weren't widely appreciated, the album's soundtrack and her rendition of the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You was the top of the singles and albums charts for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies all over the world. The same year, she was married to Bobby Brown who was a ex- New Edition singer. She was the sole daughter of Bobby and Bobbi Kristina Brown. They were married on March 23, 1993. Her drug addiction began in the middle of 1993 and at the time of her death in 1996, she'd been a frequent user.

Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchorwoman and reporter for the political section of CNN. Her weekend programs comprise Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics. When it comes to awards and honors Bash has been featured in Women in Washington Power List in Elle magazine.
